Donations & PayPal Giving Fund
Online donations to Steps to Jannah are routed through PayPal Giving Fund (PPGF), an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) donor-advised fund (EIN 45-0931286). PPGF is the charitable recipient of record and issues donor receipts before granting funds to Steps to Jannah.
- Receipts & tax records: Donors receive an email receipt directly from PPGF that lists the contribution date and PPGF’s EIN for tax documentation. Please retain this receipt and consult your tax advisor for individual deductibility guidance.
- Grant timeline: PPGF generally disburses grants to enrolled charities within 15–45 days. Additional vetting, enrollment changes, or compliance checks can extend the timeline for unenrolled organizations.
- State disclosure: California’s AB 488 requires charitable platforms to explain who initially receives donations, why a recommended charity might not receive funds, and the maximum disbursement timeline. PPGF’s delivery policy satisfies these disclosures and outlines circumstances where funds may be reassigned or refunded.
- Tracking: Donors can monitor their grant status within PayPal; PPGF holds contributions in a segregated account until the grant is completed.

Privacy & Data Practices
We collect only the information needed to process donations, issue receipts, and keep supporters informed. Payment processing is handled by PayPal Giving Fund, and we never store full payment card numbers.
- Personal data stored: donor name, email address, donation amount, and optional dedication notes. Donors may choose to remain anonymous.
- Data retention: donation records are retained for bookkeeping and regulatory requirements; general contact inquiries are retained for up to 90 days unless retention is required longer by law.
- California Online Privacy Protection Act: this policy is posted to comply with CalOPPA and related privacy requirements. While the California Consumer Privacy Act primarily targets for-profit companies, we respect its principles in handling donor information.
- Data rights: email info@stepstojannah.org to request access, updates, or deletion. We respond within 30 days.
- Security: donor records are encrypted at rest in AWS (S3 and DynamoDB), accessed only through least-privilege IAM roles, and administrative access requires multi-factor authentication.
